ABOUT DARCY HENKEL
Darcy grew up in Alberta where she fostered her love of horses and horseback riding from a very early age. Her family spent their summer vacations trail riding into the mountains with packhorses where they slept under the stars. Over the weekend growing up they would go to gymkhana’s and play horse games. After college Darcy traded in the rural lifestyle for life in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was here that she began her 27-year career with the Vancouver Police Department. After seeing a mounted officer patrolling Stanley Park she found a way to pursue both of her passions by becoming an officer on horseback. She was hooked and Darcy spent 10 years with the VPD Mounted Unit. As a mounted officer she patrolled the urban areas, rode in parades, and attended protests, demonstrations, and riots, including the 2010 Olympics and the Stanley Cup playoffs. During the last 5 years, Darcy was the trainer for both riders and horses in the Mounted Unit. Darcy retired from the VPD in 2017 and now continues her dedication to horses through developing programs, clinics, and individual sessions for riders wanting to progress further with their horses

What Darcy's Clients think
“Darcy has been integral in helping my daughter and I over the years with 2 of our horses. She has a gentle, calming and encouraging personality which I appreciate very much. My daughter has a much greater understanding of horses because of her. Everyone should have her teaching! I highly recommend Darcy, she is great with young teens and adults. Everyone who owns a horse should have her training.”
